Many Energy Star products will be exempt from Maryland sales and use tax during the upcoming annual Shop Maryland Energy tax-free weekend. It runs from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, February 13 through midnight on Monday, February 15, 2016.
The following products qualify for the exemption when sporting the Energy Star® label:
- Air conditioners
- Clothes washers and dryers
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs and LED light bulbs
- Heat pumps
- Programmable thermostats
- Refrigerators (standard size)
- Solar water heaters (now tax-exempt year-round)
Maryland does not have local sales and use tax, so the exemption applies only to the 6% state rate. Learn more about Maryland sales tax holidays.
