 Local sales and use tax rates in Missouri.

Numerous local sales and use tax rate changes are set to take effect in Missouri on July 1, 2016.

The Missouri general state sales and use tax rate is 4.225%.

New county rates

Callaway County is imposing a local option use tax at the same rate as the local option sales tax (1%). New rates throughout Callaway County are as follows:

  • Callaway County: 5.225%
  • Auxvasse: 5.225%
  • Fulton: 5.225%
  • Holts Summit: 8.225%
  • Jefferson City (the portion in Callaway County): 5.225%
  • Kingdom City: 5.225%
  • Millersburg: 5.225%
  • Mokane: 5.225%
  • New Bloomfield: 5.225%
  • Portland: 5.225%
  • Readsville: 5.225%
  • Steedman: 5.225%
  • Tebbetts: 5.225%
  • Williamsburg: 5.225%

New city use taxes

The following municipalities are all imposing a local option use tax at the same rate as the local option city sales tax. They are listed below with local option sales and use tax rates (in parentheses) and the new combined state and local rate for all affected areas.

  • Boonville (2%), 7.95%
    • Boonville Hail Ridge CID, 7.975%.
  • Crestwood (1.5%), 5.725%
    • Crestwood Square CID, 6.725%
    • Crestwood (X1), 5.725%
  • Deepwater (2%), 7.675%
  • Frontenac (1.5%), 5.725%
  • Linn (1%), 6.975%
  • Mound City (1.5%), 8.225%
  • Mount Vernon (2%), 7.350%
  • Platte Woods (1.5%), 7.1%
  • Princeton (1.5%), 7.975%

Special district rate changes

  • Farmington Mineral Area Community Improvement District (CID) is imposing a 1% district sales and use tax, for a new combined rate of 5.225%.
  • O’Fallon Retail Walk CID (includes a portion of the city of O’Fallon) is imposing a 1% district sales and use tax, for a new combined rate of 6.950%.
  • Old Dorsett Road CID (includes a portion of the city of Maryland Heights) is imposing a 1% district sales and use tax, for a new combined rate of 5.225%. The rate change also impacts all of the Old Dorsett Road Transportation Development District.
  • The Red Bridge Shopping Center CID is imposing a 0.5% district sales and use tax, for a new combined rate of 8.1%. Affected areas include a portion of Kansas City (Jackson County) and the Red Bridge CID.
  • TXRH CID (includes a portion of the city of Belton) is imposing a 1% district sales and use tax, for a new combined rate of 6.975%.
  • Westport Plaza 1 CID (includes a portion of the city of Maryland Heights) is imposing a 1% district sales and use tax, for a new combined rate of 5.225%. This change also affects all of the Westport Plaza Transportation Development District.
  • Harrison Brookhart Transportation Development District (includes a portion of the city of Harrisville) is imposing a 1% district sales tax.

Other rate changes

  • The domestic utility rate in Campbell will increase by 1%.
  • Barry County is extending its existing 0.5% county capital improvements sales tax.
  • The 0.125% city capital improvements sales tax in Houston is expiring.
  • Moberly is extending its existing city public mass transportation sales and use tax (0.5%), 7.975%. This also applies to Moberly Crossings CID (0.5%), 8.975%.
  • The domestic utility rate in Montgomery City will increase by 0.5%.
