Michigan Fuel Tax Rates, Summer 2016

Prepaid sales tax rates on fuel sold in Michigan are subject to change monthly. Prepayment rates are based on 6% of the statewide average retail price (self-serve) of a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline and a gallon of undyed No. 2 ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. After months of declining rates, the rates have been steadily rising since April.
- Gasoline: 12.2 cents per gallon
- Diesel fuel: 12.2 cents per gallon
- Gasoline: 13.5 cents per gallon
- Diesel fuel: 12.9 cents per gallon
