Georgia sales tax holiday for energy efficient products


 Energy Star products exempt from Georgia sales tax this weekend.

This weekend is a good time to save energy and sales tax in Georgia. It’s the 2016 Georgia sales tax holiday for energy and water efficient products.

Energy Star® and WaterSense® products with a sales price of $1,500 or less are exempt from Georgia sales and use tax when purchased between 12:01 a.m., September 30 and midnight, October 2. The exemption does not apply to items purchased for use in business or trade.

Exempt products include:

  • Air conditioners
  • Bathroom sink faucets and accessories
  • Ceiling fans
  • Clothes washers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Dishwashers
  • Doors and windows
  • High-efficiency toilets and urinals
  • Refrigerators
  • Showerheads
  • Weather- or sensor-based irrigation controllers
