Avalara is seeking a Facilities Coordinator whom will be responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, clean and functional working environment for Avalara employees and guests.  The Facilities Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in management and maintenance of our Durham office and will work in conjunction with the Facilities Manager on special projects related to our company facilities.

Job Duties:

  1. Assists with maintaining daily operations of the physical facility.
  2. Supports maintenance, mechanics and facilities staff by performing “handyman” maintenance duties such as furniture moves, simple electrical projects, spot painting and/or cleaning, light construction and/or exterior cleanup.
  3. May perform other activities such as audio-visual (AV) set up for meetings or conferences, inter-office mail deliveries, paper recycling, compost and stocking of employee break areas.
  4. Responsible for assisting with space-planning, reorganizations to accommodate our growing business
  5. Assist build-out of new office space
  6. Work with contractors and external vendors as needed
  7. Provide maintenance/facilities support for remote offices as needed if requested by Director, Facilities
  8. General office clean-up; upkeep
  9. Pick-up/drop-offs of specials guests/visitors/employees
  10. Special projects as directed by supervisor
  11. Miscellaneous errands for company

Qualifications:

  1. 1-3 years facilities experience
  2. Experience managing projects from start to finish
  3. Working knowledge of general building maintenance
  4. Strong communication skills and customer service focus
  5. Ability to work in a self-directed environment to resolve problems
  6. Ability to meet deadlines
  7. Clean driving record
  8. Reliable vehicle which may be utilized for local travel
  9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  10. Ability to use power tools
  11. Ability to travel by airplane if needed
