Avalara is growing rapidly and seeking a customer focused marketing manager to help drive customer loyalty and a better customer experience in Europe. They will be responsible for lifecycle communications (programmatic and ad hoc), supporting scaled customer experiences with partners across the team and potentially driving advocacy efforts for European clients. First and foremost, you need to have demonstrated customer empathy and care in previous roles. You will be the advocate for the customer experience.

You will lead projects and execution driving strongest marketing and transactional communications to support retention and satisfaction within Avalara's customer base. This will require you to influence senior leadership and understand, or have curiosity to learn, marketing automation used to deliver scaled communications

You will work closely with many cross functional teams, including customer loyalty, customer success, marketing, product, support, and implementation. You will help create welcome email campaigns and product adoption campaigns for this customer base.

The ideal candidate may have a generalist marketing background and / or customer service or other customer-facing experiences where you've worn multiple hats and can prioritize the most important tasks. You are organized and show a bias for action tempered with calm. Job Duties:


  • Own the ad-hoc customer communication process working cross functionally with business stakeholders to reach customers.

  • Partner with internal content teams to write emails and thought leadership content that will enable our customers to be successful.

  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously to ensure projects and communications are delivered on a timely basis

  • Seek out opportunities to prevent manual communication techniques and deliver automated processes

  • Evaluate performance of marketing and campaigns based on KPIs and defined analytics.

  • Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or communications.

  • 5+ years marketing or project management experience, including experience in a B2B SaaS company.

  • Prior experience in customer marketing, customer experience, and loyalty marketing is a huge plus.

  • Experience in field marketing and/or providing direct support to sales teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven experience in working and collaborating with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with CRM automation tools (e.g. Salesforce.com), marketing automation platforms (especially Eloqua), and analytic tools (e.g. Tableau).

  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving is your jam.

  • Has a positive, can-do attitude and is happy to work with marketing and sales teams in the US and Europe to build beneficial and collaborative relationships.
