Sr. Manager, Communications Compliance Services will have responsibilities to advance Avalara’s Returns Services business by managing and developing a team of tax analysts focused on process enhancement as well as guiding the future direction of automation to effectively serve across customer segments – from enterprise to small-medium businesses.

Job Summary

Sr. Manager, Communications Compliance Services will have responsibilities to advance Avalara’s Returns Services business by managing and developing a team of tax analysts focused on process enhancement as well as guiding the future direction of automation to effectively serve across customer segments – from enterprise to small-medium businesses.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of tax analysts responsible for all aspects of the customer experience as part of Avalara’s managed returns services.
  • Cultivate a team culture that embraces Avalara’s success traits.
  • Develop strong cross functional relationships with Product, Development, Go Live, Support, Customer Account Managers (CAMs), Sales and Treasury – all vital internal partnerships in delivering the end-to-end managed returns experience.
  • Engage directly with internal teams and customers to resolve escalations where returns services are required as part of the solution. Provide leadership as part of the cross-functional team discipline to address root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Develop metrics, as well as implement process and automation improvements, to enable the business to scale without compromising customer experience.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of manager level experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or other four-year degree with equivalent experience
  • Previous, demonstrated management or leadership experience in a software/SaaS company environment
  • Prior sales and/or communications tax filing experience
  • Strong computer technical skills including advanced MS Excel functionality
  • Ability to excel in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration
  • Strong process assessment and improvement experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or certification such as MBA, CPA or CMI
  • Experience with using or implementing automated tax solutions
  • Demonstrated success in overcoming obstacles within a high growth business environment
