Avalara’s industry-leading automation solution for sales tax calculations, returns, remittance and exemption certificate management is awarded highest number of stars among all six sales and use tax products reviewed
Bainbridge Island, WA – July 16, 2013 – Avalara, the market leading provider of sales tax and compliance automation services in the cloud, received a 5-star rating for its AvaTax product from the CPA Practice Advisor. The rating is the magazine’s highest number of stars awarded to any Sales and Use Tax product and Avalara was the only provider among six total to receive the 5-star rating. The review is included in the magazine's July 2013 issue and marks the second year in a row Avalara received a 5-star review.
“This is a ‘best fit’ for businesses who must file sales tax, use tax or VAT returns in multiple jurisdictions across the United States, Canada and over 70 other countries,” said Brian Tankersley, CPA.CITP, CPA Practice Advisor technology editor, in his review. He also called Avalara a best fit for “firms with clients who are subject to Streamlined Sales Tax requirements (22 states) and want to use a tool for automation of sales tax calculation based on address verification and geospatial identification of tax jurisdictions.”
Tankersley added, “AvaTax Calc is one of the only applications which can determine the tax jurisdictions based on latitude and longitude coordinates for construction sites and other locations where a physical address is not available.”
Other strengths mentioned in the review included:
AvaTax Calc verifies address against a database of addresses, and has direct integrations for use as a sales and use tax engine for over 250 accounting, ERP, e-commerce, billing, mobile commerce (m-commerce) and point of sale applications.
- AvaTax Certs allows customers to electronically request exemption certificates via e-mail, and allows recipients to sign digital exemption certificates with a mouse.
- AvaTax Certs has tools for exporting exemption certificates en masse for use in audits.
- AvaTax Returns supports preparation of returns for all U.S. tax jurisdictions.
“We put a tremendous amount of stock in CPA Practice Advisor’s reviews and ratings because we know CPAs and accountants rely on the magazine’s reviews to help influence the solutions they recommend to their clients,” said Scott McFarlane, founder and CEO at Avalara. “The entire Avalara team has worked very hard to continuously improve and extend out our product and service offering to deliver the best end-to-end, cloud-based sales tax management suite available today – and, significantly, to create more integrations into leading accounting, point of sale, e-commerce, mobile commerce, and CRM products and applications than any other sales tax automation provider, allowing a firm’s clients to quickly and easily get up and running on our service. Avalara users have much more to look forward to as we continue to make enhancements to our growing suite of products and services.”
