How to Import Your Sales Data in TrustFile

  • Jan 25, 2016 | Katherine Gustafson

Preparing your sales tax to file is a process that the correct tools can make simpler. With TrustFile, users get free access to state sales tax reports and completed state filing forms.

To get started, create a free account and import your transaction data. Once your sales tax data has been successfully imported, TrustFile will break it down by jurisdiction and provide you with state-by-state reports.

We offer three options for importing transaction data into TrustFile: Platform connectors, CSV file import, and manual entry. Here's a run-down:

Platform Connectors

To use one of our dedicated connectors, log into your TrustFile account and click on "Data." From there, select the "Sources" tab. Select the option that matches your platform. Follow the steps to authenticate your account, and TrustFile will do the rest. Data import begins upon successful authentication and happens in an ongoing manner thereafter.

CSV File Import

For other platforms, TrustFile users can import their data in CSV form. CSV stands for "Comma Separated Values," and is a common way to export transaction data. We've compiled brief instructions you can use to get started when using platforms for which we do not currently have a connector.

Manual Entry

TrustFile users may also enter their data manually by going to the Dashboard and scrolling to the bottom of the screen. There, click on "My platform isn't listed" then click on "Enter transactions manually."
