  • Nov 1, 2019 | Richard Asquith

Ecuador is the latest country to bring electronic / digital services to consumers within the VAT net.

A bill has been submitted to the National Assembly to make providers of e-services liable to charge 12% VAT.  This will include non-resident providers. The measure is likely to come into effect from January 2020.

E-services includes: download or streaming media; apps; e-books; e-learning; SaaS; online gaming; news and other online journals; and dating websites.
