Accounting Top 100 social media leaderboard algorithm breakdown

The Accounting Top 100 social media leaderboard uses an algorithm that scores and ranks users based on five separate metrics, each of which is weighted according to its perceived value. These five metrics are calculated every two weeks and combined to form a Power Score: a 1-100 value based on Rise.Global’s Relative Scoring Method. This Power Score determines a user’s rank on each new leaderboard release. The following is a breakdown of those five metrics, as well as their current weighting.

  1. Kred Influence Score (Weight = 5)

The following description is taken from Kred’s website.

Kred Influence is the measure of what others do because of you. Your Influence score increases when someone takes an action because of your content on Twitter or any other network you have connected to your Kred profile.

You receive Influence Points every time people interact with you or your content.

Influence Points are then added together and translated to your Kred Influence Score, which ranges from 1 to 1,000. Higher scores represent greater influence.

  2. Number of Twitter @Mentions (Weight = 4)

A user is given one point for every time they received a direct mention on Twitter since the previous leaderboard release.

  3. Kred Outreach Score (Weight = 3)

The following description is taken from Kred’s website.

Kred Outreach is the measure of your generosity. Outreach increases when you retweet, @reply, or follow a new person.

As you accumulate Outreach Points, you move to a higher Outreach Level. Since Outreach Points are a reward for being active and benevolent, your Outreach Level will never go down.

Outreach Points accumulate to increase your Outreach Level. Each successive Outreach Level is progressively more difficult to achieve. When you have 100 Outreach Points, you reach Level 1; Level 2 is 270 points (170 incremental Points after Level 1); and so on.

  4. Number of Twitter Retweets (Weight = 2)

A user is given one point for every time one of their tweets was retweeted since the previous leaderboard release.

  5. Number of Tweets (Weight = 1)

A user is given one point for every tweet posted since the previous leaderboard release.
