- Sep 10, 2012 | Will Frei

Beginning September 15, 2012, California expands the types of out-of-state retailers required to register with the California Board of Equalization and ". . . requires them to begin collecting and remitting use tax on sales of tangible personal property to California consumers."
The state will hire approximately 100 new auditors, lawyers and specialists over the next three years to help enforce the new law (AB 155).
The LA Times reports that Amazon.com has agreed to begin collecting sales tax under the new law.
